Ka Leo: The Voice
The History and Living Tradition of Hawaiian Song

Part of A World Music Cruise Lecture/Demo Series
-> An exploration of Hawaii's legends, mythology, spirituality, and humanity through music and dance with artists Kim Sueoka and Dustin Wirth. This presentation will focus on ancient Hawaiian chant and hula, and the story of their survival. We will also discuss the unique genres of music that have been created as a result of Hawaii's contact with the west, including Hawaiian Hymnody, Hawaiian Art Song, Paniolo (Cowboy) Songs, and Hapa-Haole (Part-Foreign) Songs.
