Lau Hawaiian Collective Family Concerts on April 12th

Next Friday, April 12th, Lau will perform two 45-minute interactive family concerts on the Schubert Club’s Music in the Park series. We hope you’ll join us, and maybe bring a friend in need of some warm-weather music! Tickets are only $7 – yay!

The Rose Ensemble in Concert February 14 – 17

Aloha friends,
The Rose Ensemble’s Sybils of the Rhine: Saint Hildegard von Bingen & The Minstrel’s Song of Songs opens next Thursday, February 14th in Minneapolis!

I’ve been absolutely mesmerized by the music we’re preparing for these concerts – the program features music from the Benedictine Abbey of St. Emmeram in Regensburg, selections from the poet-minstrel Frauenlob’s exquisite “Song of Songs,” and poetry and music by the newly canonized Abbess and Doctor, Hildegard von Bingen. I hope you’ll join us for one of these candle-lit concerts :)

This month, David Burk and I will be traveling to Des Moines and Ames, Iowa to work with the fantastic conductors and singers of the Des Moines Choral Society, Ames Chamber Artists, Heartland Youth Choir, and Ames Children’s Choirs! Tomorrow, November 15, Lau Hawaiian Collective will participating in Give to the Max Day, an annual online giving event that maximizes contributions to nonprofit organizations in Minnesota.

Voces8 of London returns to the Twin Cities to take the stage with The Rose Ensemble in a ground-breaking performance of ethereal vocal music featuring Gregorian chant, Spanish-language villanescas, Latin motets, an encore performance of Sergey Khvoshchinsky’s “Ave Maria” (commissioned by The Rose Ensemble in 2010), and Gery de Ghersem’s miraculous “Missa Ave Virgo Sanctissima.”
